(Drumroll)
Here it is.
As a first post ill try and keep it simple as I haven't really done a 'proper' blog before haha.
A slice of history : I have been baking since I was 9. I think the first recipe I had ever made was a gingerbread recipe from an old kids cookbook that had resurfaced during a cleanup.I remember making them too thin, they were well crisped but they tasted good all the same. Since then I have made numerous cakes, biscuits and so much more!
The last cake I made was for my younger sister. She is completely obsessed with chocolate so this is what inspired this cake although the design has already circled the internet numerous times. I called it the rainbow smartie cake.
The rest of the decorating required:
3 packets of Cadbury chocolate sticks
1 family packet of Smarties
1 quantity of buttercream (also found on the recipe above)
To make the cake:
Follow the cake recipe but split the batter into two cake tins (I used 23cm diameter ones and also had enough for 6 cupcakes) or alternatively bake the cake whole and then slice in half if you wish. Bake according to the instructions (but shorten the time if making the two cakes).
Place on a wire rack until the cake completely cool, prepare the buttercream icing.
Spread 1/4 of the icing in between the two cake layers, making sure that the cake top is level on all sides. Place in the fridge for 20 mins.
Just before serving carefully pour the packet of Smarties onto the top of the cake.
Done!
Hope that was sweet enough for a first post!
Just the sweet stuff x
